Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a natural looking and functional solution to tooth loss, in the form of a fixed restoration, as an alternative to dentures or other options that required modification of adjacent teeth. They are a great alternative to dentures if you would like to fill gaps in your teeth with a fixed replacement.

Why dental implants?

Dental implants can help improve your chewing and speaking ability, as well as restoring gaps or failing teeth and help restore your confidence.

Dental Implants are small, high-quality titanium screws that are carefully placed into your jawbone. The implant then integrates with the bone and provides a solid foundation for the replacement tooth/teeth. They can be used to replace a single lost teeth with a crown, multiple missing teeth with a dental bridge or a whole set of teeth by acting as a stable base for dentures.

How are dental implants fitted?

  • We will do a thorough implant consultation assessing your teeth, oral health, and your personal needs to assess implant suitability.

  • A CT scan is done to assess available bone, bone density, adjacent anatomical structures and help carefully plan your implants.

  • Implants are carefully placed during a minor surgical procedure and are left for a few months to integrate with the bone.

  • Once they have integrated, replacement teeth will be made and fixed to the underlying implants.

Aftercare

Implants are a long-lasting solution to gaps in your smile but require the same care and attention as natural teeth, which means daily brushing and interdental cleaning. You will also need to come and see us for regular check-ups and hygienist visits so we can keep a close eye on your implants and the surrounding teeth.
